Beta-version is a version of the product officially released for external testing, which has most of the functionality of the finished product incorporated. Beta-versions are intended to identify errors and defects in the product, whilst also getting different opinions and observations about product operation and aesthetics. On completion of the testing of the product and the realisation of the technical release, the most active beta-testers who have contributed to the development of the product will be rewarded, and given a free 1 year license for the product which was tested. More about beta testing can be found by clicking here.
Warning! “Kaspersky Lab” holds no responsibility for, nor guarantees the stable operation of the beta-versions! If any damage to your computer or data occurs, you are solely responsible for your actions.
Please only take part in beta testing if you are willing to accept these conditions and are confident in your technical ability. If you are unsure, please do not take part in beta-testing and wait for the product release.
Please read the following FAQ carefully. There have been changes to the bug reporting procedure in comparison with KAV/KIS 2010 beta-testing cycles.
We have compiled the following useful information, which will help you in beta-testing the product.
Contents:
Section 1. Beginning testing: Loading, installing and activating the beta-version.
Section 2. Organisation of testing
2.1 Antivirus functionality- Detections (incl. Heuristics), disinfection and deletion. Performance and ODS task management.
2.2 Information security- Backup, encryption, virtual keyboard, password manager.
2.3 GUI- Graphical User Interface (Bug reports will only be accepted on standard skin)
2.4 Application control, firewall, sandbox
2.5 Traffic filtration- Web antivirus, IM antivirus, Mail scanner, Parental control, Anti-phishing
2.6 Compatibility problems- Crash dumps and freezes of KTS, and also problems with other applications after installing KTS
2.7 Extra functionality- Vulnerability scan, System tune up, AVZ scripts, rescue disk, Antispam
2.8 Installation, modification and uninstallation of product, database updater
Section 3. Troubleshooting and sending of necessary information to “Kaspersky Lab” developers.
Section 4. Changing of update servers.
Section 5. Deletion of product traces after an incomplete/interrupted uninstallation.
Section 6. Glossary of frequently used abbreviations/terms.
Section 7. General helpful advice.
Section 8. Information and feedback.
Warning! It is not recommended to install new builds “on top of” old ones (e.g. without uninstalling the previous build!). Do not save any settings from the previous build to the new one, as this can lead to some problems. Uninstall the product fully, and do not carry over any settings or data from the previous build. This advice is valid unless you are specifically asked to do the opposite by the developers.
KTS does not require a reboot after installation, however, you should test the product in both states - before and after reboot. When reporting any defects or problems, please specify if the product was rebooted after installation or not.
